DEMOLITION DERBY
It is with great pleasure that I can say “construction has begun” on our new house! WE were ready to start demolition earlier in June, but we had to wait for PG&E to complete their work. They disconnected the power on June 4 but it took them a while to disconnect the gas line. While waiting, Bob put protection up around the Oak Tree on the north west corner of the lot. Matt from Matarozzi Pelsinger Builders, our super-intendent for two weeks, and Bob put up a fence around the Redwood tree. A port-a-potty was delivered – a big sign that things are about to happen! Bob re-routed the water line. A notice was posted to let the neighbors know demolition was coming soon. On Monday June 18 the little house was torn down by a large Komatsu excavator. It took 1-1/4 hours. Tuesday June 19 they took the house away in 5 high side trucks using the Komatsu to load the many bits and pieces. Wednesday June 20 the stone pine tree was removed. Hard to describe how exciting it was to see all of this happen. I could spend all day every day at the site watching. Thursday June 21 and Friday June 22 Bob started laying out the lot and the site work sub contractor cleared and scraped the lot completely.
